Henni Parviainen is writing her doctoral dissertation on the legal constraints surrounding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithmic decision-making in recruitment within the European Union. She examines this issue from the perspectives of both the employers who utilise these systems and the job applicants affected by them. Hence, the dissertation aims to assess two key aspects: first, how the EU legislation constrains and shapes the use of AI and algorithmic decision-making in recruitment; and second, how it protects job applicants when such systems are employed.
