I am a doctoral researcher in Landscape Studies at the University of Turku, working within the JUNO Doctoral Programme in the Humanities. My research focuses on plastic waste in Nordic urban environments, particularly micro and nanoplastics and how they persist and circulate through everyday life. Through sensory walking, dérive, and multisensory attunement, I trace the ways plastic registers beyond sight in textures, smells, sounds, and atmospheric traces.
My dissertation, Plastic Waste Entanglements: Sensory Encounters in the Urbanscape of Turku, asks what it means to live in a city where plastic is always present but engineered to go unnoticed, and how embodied, sensory inquiry can work with what withdraws rather than what appears.
