I am a doctoral researcher at Finland Futures Research Centre. My PhD focuses on how anticipatory thinking contributes to organisational decision-making, adaptive capacity, and long-term sustainability. I am interested in exploring the interplay between foresight practices, organizational culture, and strategy formulation to uncover how resilience can be embedded as a core organizational competency.
I hold a Master of Social Science in Futures Studies from the University of Turku, Finland (2024), a Master of Business Management from the University of West London, United Kingdom (2018) and a Bachelor of Business Management from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka (2013), where I majored in Marketing Management. I was a Lecturer and a Professional in Marketing.
In my PhD, with the working title of "Anticipatory Thinking as a Catalyst for Resilient Organizations," I am exploring how anticipatory thinking as a knowledge production process enables organizations to become adaptive and resilient. My study borrows anticipation and complexity theory from future studies and organizational theories. I employ participatory research methods, Futures Literacy Labs, Futures Workshops, and Futures Games to investigate how organizations can strategically navigate uncertainty and complexity.
My Master's thesis, titled "Futures Images of Good Life for Urban Youth in Sri Lanka," focused on envisioning alternative ways of living a good life that promotes human and planetary well-being. The theoretical framework combined perspectives from the Global North and Global South to create holistic images of the future that empower youth futures in developing economies, with a particular emphasis on Sri Lanka.
