Computational Genomics, Population Genetics and Natural Selection
My Research Project is part of UTU-GreDiT (Solutions for Green and Digital Transition-https://sites.utu.fi/utugredit/).
I completed my Master's degree in Molecular and Human Genetics in India. During my master's studies, I explored various human genetic disease mechanisms, focusing on how their susceptibilities vary among populations influenced by factors such as inbreeding, selection, and admixture. I got interested in evolutionary genomics, with an emphasis on population-specific adaptations, while further refining my skills in genomics and bioinformatics.
In my doctoral research, I am passionate about understanding the genetic adaptation in North-Eastern Europe due to past infectious diseases and environmental changes. In this project, I combine ancient and modern human DNA and life history trait data in a Finnish context to examine the effects of past events on human genomes in the past versus the present population.
