Minh Nguyen is a PhD researcher at University of Turku, currently conducting reseach in hardware accelerator architecture, embedded AI, and Embedded Systems for robotics.
His research has contribution spands from IoT system, embedded sensors are utilzed for manipulating the robot. One of his early academic work was submitted to the IEEE IoT 2021 Conference (accepted for notable undergraduate contribution). During 2022, he invested time for developing an Intelligent Valve at Oras Oy (as summer trainee), where a classification model is designed for detecting outliers sensor data (e.g., leakages) near the valve. This work is available (in solictied draft version) here. Since 2023, he joined TIERS group with his doctoral topic in hardware acceleration, which focuses on exploring hardware/software co-design for enhancing AI-related applications for overcoming the performance bottlenecks.
Minh works at the department of computing as a teaching assistant for the "VHDL System Modelling and Synthesis" course since Autum semester 2023, in which he supported Prof. Tomi Westerlund with the module's lab assignments.
In Spring semester 2026, he contributed to the procurement of teaching materials and lab work for "FPGAs for Embedded Systems", an elective module.
