Tutkimus

I am a doctoral researcher in the Study of Religion, at the University of Turku. In my dissertation, I study diversity within Finnish education for adult immigrants. In my research, I focus on the teachers and instructors of these educational settings. My research question is how instructors negotiate, reproduce, and face diversity among their immigrant students. With the concept of intersectionality, I examine how religion and culture are negotiated in relation to other significant categories of difference that take place in this context.

My research material consists of both individual and focus group interviews with the instructors, and policy documents concerning immigrant integration in Finland.
