Smart and sustainable materials for energy conversion
As Associate Professor in Materials Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Turku in Finland, I lead the Smart Energy Materials Group since September 2024. I have been Assistant Professor and Swiss National Science Foundation PRIMA Fellow at the Adolphe Merkle Institute of the University of Fribourg and EPFL in Switzerland since 2020. I am invested in the development of soft and stimuli-responsive bioinspired materials that adapt to their operation conditions in smart nanotechnologies, with a particular interest in renewable energy conversion in photovoltaics and neuromorphic computing. Our research relies on a multidisciplinary approach at the interface of chemistry, physics, material science, and engineering to develop functional materials and devices. I operate within an international collaborative network, dedicated to science for policy and diplomacy, while connecting and supporting scientists globally.

Our research interests are centered around the development of bioinspired (supra)molecular materials for smart nanotechnologies that can respond to external stimuli and adapt to their operation conditions, with a particular interest in renewable energy conversion in photovoltaics and neuromorphic computing. We rely on a multidisciplinary approach and international collaborations at the interface of chemistry, physics, material science, and engineering in the design, synthesis, and characterization of materials and devices.
