I am a doctoral researcher at the University of Turku (2021–). I hold a Master of Health Sciences (Nursing Science, 2019) and a Bachelor of Health Sciences (2017) from the University of Turku. My clinical background is as a registered nurse and public health nurse (2010), with extensive experience (2008–2019) primarily in medical hospital wards.
Since 2018, I have been an active member of the Empowering Patient Education (EPE) research programme, serving in various roles including researcher, teacher, supervisor, and coordinator. While I am based in Turku, Finland, I thrive in international environments.
My research focuses on patient rights, with specific expertise in patient empowerment and patient education. I have a particular interest in multiculturalism and the healthcare experiences of individuals in vulnerable positions. I am also developing a strong interest in visual science communication, specifically the use of comic strips to disseminate research findings.
Methodological experience:
- Systematic literature reviews

I have extensive teaching experience within the international Empowering Patient Education (EPE) course, which is an online Master's and Doctoral level course (20 ECTS) with an in-person intensive week (5 ECTS). In addition to lecturing both in Finland and internationally, I teach in research seminars and have supervised numerous Bachelor's and Master's theses.
I have also conducted a teacher exchange in Vilnius, Lithuania. I am currently finalizing my wide-ranging pedagogical qualification, which will be completed in 2026.
