Hi! I’m Partho Sen.
I am passionate about developing good practices in data science, computational biology and bioinformatics applied to multiomics, biological and pre-(clinical) datasets, to study regulation of biochemical processes, and to identify molecular (bio-)markers in microbes and humans.
My current research interfaces between genomics (NGS), metabolomics/lipidomics, systems and precision medicine. Over the past 12 years of academic research I gained broad expertise in these fields.
I completed my doctoral thesis (PhD) in 'Biological Sciences' from University of Montpellier2, CNRS, DIMP-UMR 5235, France. Here, I applied experimental and mathematical modeling techniques to understand the life cycle of Plasmodium, particularly focusing on glycerophospholipid metabolism. To pursue my postdoctoral training, I joined the Nielsen’s lab at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. I was involved in several international and EU projects under the topics, infant’s malnutrition, gut microbiota, human metabolism and vaccine-‘omics’. Currently, working as a senior postdoctoral researcher in the Systems Medicine group, Orešič's lab at Turku Bioscience (TB), University of Turku, Finland. My research spans between different topics such as, metabolism in immune cells and Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), Celiac disease progression, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and exposomics.
I am excited to share my vision for scientific research, specifically in approaches that promote the application of multiomics data science including but not limited to address modern challenges in cell/tissue biology.
