Biography

I am a Collegium Fellow at Turku Advanced Studies Institute (TIAS) and Department of Sociology, University of Turku and a visiting scholar at the University of Helsinki.  I received my Ph.D. degree from the University of Sheffield, Urban Studies and Planning Department, after I received my MA in Sociology, Middle East Technical University and my BA in Urban and Regional Planning, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Turkey. Previously, I held research and teaching positions in political science, human geography, sustainability science, international relations and global development studies in different universities of UK, Turkey, Sweden and Finland. I am the co-founder and co-director of NUPE and Urban and Regional Political Economy Working Group, IIPPE. I joined Housing Studies Journal as an Editor with an additional role as Social Media Editor in 2024. 



Research

I am a critical urban studies scholar. I am interested in the political economy of housing, local governing, climate financialisation, urban activism and commons.
