Research

My research examines Elsa Heporauta’s (1883–1960) esoteric worldview and cultural agency. In my doctoral dissertation, I explore how Heporauta structured and transmitted esoteric knowledge, and how her spirituality was expressed in everyday practices, relationships, writing, and cultural initiatives. Drawing especially on letters, manuscripts, and archival materials, I analyse Heporauta’s agency within a framework that combines folklore studies, esotericism studies, religious studies, cultural history, and cultural heritage studies.
