Dr. Amleset Kelati is a senior researcher in the Department of Computing at the University of Turku, specializing in ASIC and FPGA design with over 20 years of industry and academic experience. Her expertise spans top-down design methodologies, tool integration, and automation of design flows, with proficiency in VLSI design, Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL, and RTL verification.
She holds a Ph.D. in ICT with a focus on Electronic Systems (2021) from KTH, along with multiple M.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from KTH, Chalmers, and UCLV. Her research interests include ULP wireless embedded processors, special-purpose computing, sensor integration, and hardware implementation of machine learning algorithms.
Dr. Kelati has authored over 40 scientific publications and serves as a Senior IEEE volunteer and a key contributor to IEEE Signal Processing Standards.
My postdoctoral research at the Finnish Centre for Astronomy with ESO (FINCA) focused on developing a wideband full-Stokes spectrometer using FPGA technology within the CASPER framework. The goal is to enhance the performance and cost-efficiency of high-bandwidth data processing for large-scale astronomical observations.
My Ph.D. research, conducted in the Department of Computing centered on designing an IoT-based platform for e-health monitoring. It involved creating a system architecture that integrates wearable devices and smart grid technologies to support smart health and ambient assisted living, with a focus on reliability and practical implementation of machine learning techniques to accelerate and optimize FPGA compilation time, enhancing the overall development efficiency of the system.
