I have defended my dissertation in the field of cultural history on the topic 'Social and Health-Care Workers Intepretations of the Temporality and Agency of Person with Dementia from the 1980s to the 2020s. 

I have more than twenty years of experience in the area of social- and healthcare. I have become an expert in the treatment of individuals with neurocognitive disorders and I have also published primary textbooks on this topic. My broad range of professional experience centers around project management, Lean Coaching and leadership. I have been for several years a member of board of the Society for Memory Disorders Expertise in Finland (Suomen muistiasiantuntijat ry.). 

My previous education includes a Master of Arts degree (with a major in cultural history and minors in social policy, communications, and the Asklepios study program), a Lean coach for social and healthcare services, a trainer in creative reminiscence work, and a specialist nurse.

My doctoral thesis within the realm of cultural history delves into how social and health-care workers interpret dementia and the temporal aspects associated with a person with dementia, as well as the implications of these interpretations for the person’s agency. It also investigates the evolution of these interpretations in Finland from the 1980s to the present.

The research utilises two primary sources: oral histories collected from 191 social and health-care professionals in 2019 and a selection of 76 dementia care guides and textbooks published in Finland between 1985 and 2019. 

Methodologically, my study employs historical close reading, as well as oral history and classification methods guided by the research question and conceptual framework. In keeping with historical scholarship, this study adopts a source-oriented and context-constructive approach. Central to this research are the concepts of temporality and agency.
