The newpaper column analyses popular responses to the public scandal on a goverment-approved (but just hours later, cancelled) commemorative "Finland 100 years" coin - a part of a 8-piece series of such coins - which represented early Finnish independence by an image of "white" government troops executing a "red" prisoner. My argument is that the civil war of 1918 still affects Finns' social and political identification 100 years later.
