Biography

I have been working as an Associate Professor of Didactics at the Department of Teacher Education, University of Turku since September 2018. I have worked at the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Middle East Technical University, Turkey between 1999 and 2018. I got my PhD in 2006 from Michigan State University, the U.S.A. 



Research

My major research is on preservice mathematics teachers’ mathematics related beliefs and the effect of the teacher education programs on these beliefs. I have also conducted research on young faculty members’ socialization process in Turkey. Recently, I am working on experiences of doctoral students in the field of mathematics education and preservice teachers' affect in problem posing. I have supervised several graduate students working in diverse research areas in mathematics education in Turkey.



Teaching

I am teaching both introductory courses in education and research methods courses especially about observation and interview in the teacher education programs.
