Abstract

Loppusijoitusta koskevan tiedon säilyttäminen oli keskeinen aihe, kun Nuclear Energy Agency toteutti laajan tutkimushankkeen ”Preservation of Records, Knowledge and Memory Across Generations initiative” vuosina 2011–2019. Sen tuotokset luovat ajantasaista perustaa keskustelulle ydinvoiman rauhanomaisen käytön jättämästä ”ikuisesta” perinnöstä eli siitä, kuinka tietoja ja muistoa käytetyn ydinpolttoaineen hautaamisesta tulisi vaalia ja ylläpitää kauas tulevaisuuteen. Sikäli kun koko kysymys on Suomessa toistaiseksi jäänyt vähälle huomiolle, NEA:n ratkaisuehdotuksilla on ehkä erityisen paljon annettavaa juuri suomalaisille ydinalan toimijoille.

They focused on the preservation of knowledge about the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel when Nuclear Energy Agency implemented a large research project called “Preservation of Records, Knowledge and Memory Across Generations initiative” during 2011–2019. Deliverables of the project provide an up-to-date ground for discussions on the “eternal” legacy from peaceful uses of nuclear energy, i.e., how knowledge and memory of disposal of spent nuclear fuel should be maintained far into the future. Since the question has received limited attention in Finland, the solutions proposed by the NEA may prove valuable for Finnish stakeholders.
