Abstract

The field of writing studies has undergone significant transformations over the past two decades, driven largely by advancements in hardware and software that enable the collection and analysis of data captured during the computer-based writing process. In the Studies in Writing series, preceded by two volumes, the first, published in 2006, Computer Keystroke Logging and Writing (edited by Kirk P.H. Sullivan and Eva Lindgren) and the second, published in 2019, Observing Writing: Insights from Keystroke Logging and Handwriting (edited by Eva Lindgren and Kirk K.P. Sullivan), this volume An introduction to Data Visualisation of the Writing Process, aims to address the growing need for sophisticated methods to interpret and analyse the complex and comprehensive data available through various data acquisition techniques.
This volume covers a range of academic and professional writing settings and a range of disciplines, including linguistics, text genetics, psychology, mathematical modelling, computer science, information science, engineering neuroscience, modern languages, education and other professional degree programmes. The chapters in this new volume provide readers with basic knowl edge on data visualisation from a methodological and practical perspective.
