In recent years, several futures researchers have warned that Russia is heading towards chaos. To better prepare for Russia’s approaching instability, this article summarises the critical information needs identified by ten Finnish Russia experts regarding the governance, economy, society and military of Russia. Meeting these information needs will help the entire West prepare for what may lie ahead of Russia. At the end of the article, five policy recommendations are presented, the implementation of which would improve the West’s preparedness for threats originating from Russia.
