In the 2019 parliamentary election the Social Democratic Party (SDP) became the largest narrowly beating the Finns Party (PS) and the National Coalition Party (KOK). The biggest loser of seats was the previous Prime Minister party  the Finnish Centre (KESK). In addition to SDP two other opposition parties, the Greens (VIHR) and the Left  Alliance (VAS) did quite well. For the first time in the history of Finland  the biggest party in  the parliament received less than 20% of the votes.
