This is a post where we propose the AI Quality of Engagement Matrix, which arose from reflection on how we want students to be able to benefit from AI in their studies. As AI tools become more ubiquitous it will become increasing important that students are using them appropriately, to further their learning. By considering their motivation for using AI, and the criticality they apply to the output of the AI, students can hopefully enagage in transformative AI use.
