This article looks at how the concept of voice could provide
a useful starting point for an ecologically aware approach to
translation. The first part contextualizes the topic and seconds
Cronin’s (2017, 2020) argument for adopting a posthumanistic
(Braidotti) perspective in Translation Studies and enlarging
the sphere of translation ethics to account for the non-human
world. It gives a tentative definition of voice that accounts for
non-human voices and texts (Taivalkoski-Shilov 2019). The
second part presents the contributions to this volume and
highlights more specifically how the notion of voice can provide
a way for understanding how and why the voices of
nature are erased or misrepresented in translation, and what
strategies could be adopted to redress the situation.
