Tiivistelmä

This article looks at a phenomenon that is typical of the user interface of any Internet platform, namely the co-presence of two voices (the voice of the platform and the voice of the user), which can sometimes appear within the same utterance. This polyphonic phenomenon is associated with the clickable elements of the platform: call-to-action buttons, tick boxes, option boxes, text boxes, etc. The study focuses on the linguistic forms of clickable elements, in particular utterances in the infinitive, imperative and those containing first-person pronouns. The aim is to show the pragmatic effects of these forms, in interaction with the immediate textual context containing the clickable area. Four online petition platforms are used as the basis for this study: Avaaz.org, Change.org, OpenPetition.org and Petitions.net.
