In this paper we inspect the possible societal outcomes of automated
road vehicles in private day-to-day use. We inspect the possibilities of
personal and joint car ownership and reflect how the automated
automobiles affect the personal livesof future road users. We state that
there are several possibilities of positive and negative outcomes which
may or may not realise depending on how the emerging technology is
introduced, legislated, and taken into use. Our argument is that the
future is not set and by taking these-and other scenarios-in accordance
there are huge potential for these marvels of technology to improve and
disrupt our society.
