Abstract

Randy Lippert is an associate professor at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in University of Windsor, Canada. His area of specialty is related to refugees in Canada and, especially sanctuary. He has profiled himself as a scholar in the Foucauldian study of governmentality in advanced liberalism. Beside Michel Foucault, key theorists in the tradition are Nikolas Rose (e.g., Powers of Freedom: Reframing Political Thought, 1999) and Mitchell Dean (e.g., Governmentality: Power and Rule in Modern Society, 1999). Sanctuary, Sovereignty, Sacrifice was published by UBC Press in 2005.
