Buddhist Missionaries in the Era of Globalization is a collection of ten essays edited by Linda Learman. The book analyses experiences of nineteenth and twentieth century globalization of Buddhist traditions, including Foguang Shan, Shingon, Soka Gakkai, Tibetan, True Pure Land and Zen Buddhism. Countries that are more thoroughly discussed in the book are Brazil, China, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and the United States. The book focuses on the transformation of national and local traditions in the context of domestic revival, diasporic communities and foreign conversion, where the key driving social forces are migration and mission.
