Artikli keskmes on Vanast Testamendist välja jäänud apokrüüfi, Juuditi loo kujutamine eesti kunstnike Anton Starkopfi (1889--1966) ja August Roosilehe (1887--1941) loomingus Esimese maailmasõja eelõhtust kuni 1920. aastate teise pooleni. Võrdleva materjali abil esitan feministlikku lugemist rakendava tõlgendusvõimaluse teostest, mis peegeldavad omaaegseid soolistatud diskursusi ja osutavad protagonisti põimumisele nii Salome kui ka Medusa kujuga.

English Summary: The focus of this article is on the story of Judith, originating from one of the deuterocanonical books of the Old Testament, as depicted by the Estonian artists Anton Starkopf (1889-1966) and August Roosileht (1887-1941) during the period from just before World War I until the second half of the 1920s. On the basis of comparative material, I present one possible interpretation of these artworks based on the feminist perspective, which reflects coeval gendered discussions and points out that the protagonist is interwoven with both the figures of Salome and Medusa.
