CONCLUSION
This collaborative paper presented some of the central topics in nursing informatics that were presented at the biennial International Congress on Nursing Informatics, as perceived by members of the Nursing Informatics Students’ Working Group. Some of the themes described here are well aligned with general recent trends in health informatics for instance, the current increasing focus on big data and mobile health. The other themes reflect some of the unique nursing informatics–oriented topics, such as enhancement of standardized nursing terminologies, development of nursing specific competencies for informatics, and instructional approaches to teaching informatics to nursing students. We also found a common methodological innovation to improve research and practice in health informatics, namely, methods triangulation.
