Since the early 2000s the field of International Business (IB) has progressed steadily towards incorporating qualitative methods as part of its research tradition. The last decade has evidenced an even stronger emphasis on enriching the methodological thinking in our field of research, for example in the form of special issues in leading journals and targeted tracks in conferences focusing on qualitative methods and methodological plurality. In the wake of these developments, mixed methods research, future and historically oriented research methods have been brought to the array of approaches available for IB scholars. The aim of this panel is to discuss the potential vested in these aforementioned approaches, as well as to provide examples about their practical application and benefits to the international business scholarship.
