Throughout the history of Western art music, composers have interacted closely with the musicians performing their compositions. This ethnographic study discusses the performers' on a new composition during the composing and rehearsal processes that preceded the first performance of 'Completorium' by the Finnish contemporary composer Jyrki Linjama. The study examines the composer-performer dichotomy in live rehearsal, which complements the previous, rather theoretical discussion on the topic.
