Tiivistelmä
The cleavage of mRNA 5'-cap structure has been studied under neutral conditions in the presence and in the absence of Cu2+ complexes. Cu2+ complexes efficiently promote the cleavage reaction, which, most likely, proceeds via the hydrolysis of the triphosphate bridge. In the absence of the metal ion catalyst, the reaction is slower, and the pathway is different. Initially, the m(7)Gua base is cleaved, which results in the hydrolysis of the N-glycosidic bond and, subsequently, the cleavage of the phosphate bridge.
