This study aims to investigate the motivators of knowledge sharing in the context
of virtual communities for smoking cessations from the social support
perspective. A research model is developed focusing on three types social
supports: informational (providing advice and sharing own experience),
emotional (empathy and trust), and companionship (social network) supports. In
addition, four moderators (age, gender, usage experience and status of smoking
cessation) are included in the proposed research model to understand knowledge
sharing behavior difference among different user groups.
