Tiivistelmä

The purpose of this paper is to explore the concept of power and to discuss how power can be embedded in academic knowledge on organizational creativity. In this paper, I apply ideas of Michel Foucault to explore academic organizational creativity literature from the perspective of disciplinary power of the discourse. In this paper academic organizational creativity knowledge is seen as a discourse, which has its own conditions of possibility, set of practices and mechanisms of power, which influence organizations and individuals. The influence causes individuals to transform into subjects, who construct and maintain their identity and well-being by engaging in creativity (cf. Knights & Morgan 1991).

Moreover, the academic organizational creativity discourse has its conditions of possibility, which influence the ways the topic is addressed and how it is treated. It produces ‘truth’ of the phenomenon and its nature, which affects how it is understood, how it should be dealt with and what kind of consequences are expected of it.
