Abstract
The idea here is to examine the ‘unnatural’ features of games like Skyrim (Bethesda 2011) and Broken Age (Double Fine 2014) in order to problematize the use of ‘story’ and ‘discourse’ in the context of storygame analysis. While in unnatural narratives “the representation of impossibilities may not only concern the level of the story but also the level of the narrative discourse” (Alber 2013), the ‘unnatural’ features of storygame ‘discourses’ seem to operate on a completely different level than those of most non- storygame ‘discourses.’
