Conclusions: Surgical fixation in the pediatric cervical spine is hampered by fragile posterior structures. A postoperative immobilization by halo vest for 4 months is customary. Selective anterior corpectomy and plate fixation is not recommended in pediatric patients with skeletal dysplasias.
