Learning in Global Virtual Teams

My research addresses gaps in understanding learning in
global virtual teams (GVTs) with a focus on identifying mechanisms in the
learning process and in capturing and transferring learning from the individual
to the team level. GVTs are a fast growing new way of organizing professional
project-based work in multinationals, where geographically dispersed members
contribute to projects complicated by lacking face-to-face meetings and differences
in work contexts. My research will help organizations understand the mechanisms
by which experiential learning is disseminated by individuals through actions
to the team and between team members. Furthermore, the research will help to
prepare and teach students to work in GVTs and teach organizations how to
transform experiential learning into organizational learning.
