The Biodiversity Unit organized a BioBlitz event at the Turku University campus (Finland) and its surroundings areas on 21st-22nd May, 2022. Among 53 participants, seven bryologists observed and collected bryophytes. All observations were either photographed and uploaded to iNaturalist, an online social network of people sharing biodiversity information, or collected as specimens for microscopic identification. The specimens identified after the event were entered into the public Finnish Biodiversity Info facility database. We found 95 bryophyte species including nine liverworts and 86 mosses. The most interesting observations were Lewinskya striata (EN), Schistidium crassipilum (NT), Fissidens taxifolius (DD), Hygroamblystegium varium (DD) and Philonotis tomentella (DD). Orthotrichum diaphanum (LC) and Platygyrium repens (LC) were both common epiphytes in the studied area.
