The economic recession in Europe is hitting hard on different countries.
One way for these countries to counter the bad development could be to
identify successful firms and nurture these firms for additional growth.
In this study we research high-impact firms in the health domain. We
conclude that the Health domain in Finland is growing fast. However,
high-impact firms in the Health domain in Finland seem to be growing more as commodity type of firms than niche creating firms.
Business growth seems to be related more to demographic factors such as
aging population, than to technological innovation. Geographical
distribution of these firms therefore becomes based on the location of
for example elderly people, that is, densely populated areas.
