The rebuttal of our correspondence (Lehtonen et similar to al., Journal of Biogeography, 2011, 38, 805808) by J. R. Grehan and J. H. Schwartz (Journal of Biogeography, 2011, 38, 23972404) reveals logical inconsistencies in their methodology. Here, we provide a clarification of these issues.
