The purpose of this study is to construct a theoretical framework that explains firm’s survival over

environmental turbulence. More specifically, we investigate how the relational aspect of localized social

capital affects firm’s survival over environmental turbulence. The emergent theoretical framework is

constructed based on the ancient Japanese Shinise logic and Western social capital theory, with an

emphasis on its relational dimension and locality. Several theoretical implications and future empirical

research suggestion in the context of financial crisis in the Spanish construction sector is proposed.
