Research

My research focuses on questions of body image and larger-than-normative embodiment. I am interested in how social media practices shape our understandings of our bodies and how digital technologies can contribute to producing more accepting relations to our bodies.
I defended my doctoral dissertation "The Feeling Body in the Media - Affective Engagements with Body Positive Media" in December 2022. The mixed-method study analyzed the relationship between mediated bodies and media users’ lived and felt bodies, reaching for new kinds of understandings of media's meanings to embodiment.

Teaching

I have taught courses on media analysis, selfies, and social media.
