pediatrics; childhood cancer; late effects of childhood cancer; long-term survivors of childhood cancer;
MD (2006), PhD (2015), specialist in pediatrics (2017), pediatric hemato-oncologist (2023). Currently working as a clinical lecturer at university of Turku, and as a pediatric hemato-oncologist at the department of pediatrics and adolescent medicine in Turku university hospital.
My thesis in 2015 focused on cardiovascular health and fitness after childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (supervised by prof. Harri Niinikoski and adjunct prof. Jukka Kemppainen), and since then, I have continued working on late effects of childhood cancer and its treatment. My main areas of interest are the effects of childhood cancer and its treatment on metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, physical activity, quality of life, and general health later in life. My current research projects mainly aim at elucidating e.g. the effect of gut microbiota on later health after cancer in childhood.
I have been working as a clinical lecturer in pediatrics since Jan 2018.
