Biography
Currently, I am working as doctoral researcher at the unit of Food sciences. My research topic is comprehensive health benefits of oats.
Research
I have experience on sensory evaluations and analytics, but my main focus is on gut microbiota and health effects of (plant) foods. My praised master's thesis (2020) focused on bioactivity of Finnish nettle and yarrow.
I am now studying comprehensive health effects of oats on metabolically challenged individuals with Professor Kaisa Linderborg and Professor Marjukka Kolehmainen (UEF) in our OAT-GUT-BRAIN-study, with main objectives:
- Discover how oats affect the human plasma metabolome and gut microbiota during long intervention
- Verify the health potential of oat phenolic compounds by analysis of inflammation markers and antioxidant capacity of plasma
- Investigate how the microbiota and metabolic state achieved by frequent oat consumption affects the postprandial state
