Law, private law, private law theory, torts, contracts, contracting, financial regulation, banking regulation
I work as an assistant professor of private law. I have been employed by the university since 2002. I worked as an acting professor of private law in 2015-2017, was a TIAS collegium researcher (2014–2015), and worked as an Academy of Finland postdoctoral researcher (2010–2012). I defended my dissertation on quantification of damages in 2008.
My work mixes legal theory, socio-legal studies approaches, and doctrinal work. In 2008, I defended his dissertation on quantifying damages in torts and for breach of contract. Since that I've retained an interest in traditional private law themes, including contract and torts, but migrated towards working primarily on financial regulation and regulatory theory. During the last few years, I have also developed an interest in tracing the relationship between law and technology, in particular in autonomous contexts.
I have been active in numerous research projects. Current projects include AALAW funded by Academy of Finland and Design for Value and Making MyData Real, both funded by Business Finland. In the past, I've worked on the AAWA, REBUS, How to govern the Economy and Legal Constructions of Reality Projects.
Most of my teaching focuses on private law. I'm responsible for the Law of Obligations compulsory study module, a specialization field study module on contract and torts, the advanced studies on the law of obligations, and a number of elective courses. I also coach the Faculty Willem C. Vis Moot Court team.
