Mielenfilosofia ja aikatietoisuus, erityisesti subjektiivisen ajan rakenteet ja ajalliset illuusiot, havaintokokemusten ja kognition suhde, neurofilosofiset lähestymistavat.
Olen toiminut Turun yliopiston teoreettisen filosofian professorina vuodesta 2023 lähtien. Filosofian tohtoriksi väittelin Turun yliopistossa vuonna 2005. Ennen nykyistä tehtävääni työskentelin Helsingin yliopistossa, ja olen siellä teoreettisen filosofian dosentti. Tutkimusprofiiliani luonnehtii poikkitieteellinen ja empiirisesti informoitu mielenfilosofia. Työni keskeisenä tavoitteena on yhdistää filosofinen analyysi empiiriseen tutkimukseen ja tätä kautta syventää ymmärrystämme mielen ajallisista rakenteista. Olen julkaissut laajalti näistä teemoista ja toiminut toimittajana muun muassa teoksessa Subjective Time: The Philosophy, Psychology, and Neuroscience of Temporality (MIT Press, 2014). Olen johtanut useita tutkimushankkeita, joista viimeisin on Suomen Akatemian rahoittama Temporality in Predictive Processing -hanke.
I am a professor of theoretical philosophy. My research focuses on (i) the philosophy and psychology of subjective time, (ii) the theories of time consciousness, (iii) the cognitive penetration of perceptual experiences, and (iv) the prerequisites of strong artificial intelligence.
