Biography

I work as a lecturer of the Swedish language at the Department of Nordic languages in the School of Languages and Translation Studies. In my undergraduate degree, I majored in Germanic philology, but I also completed advanced studies in Nordic philology. After my master's degree, before my current post, I worked as an assistant in Germanic philology, as a research assistant at the Academy of Finland and as an assistant in the Nordic languages. After completing my licentiate degree, I have also studied educational science and completed my pedagogical studies as a teacher.

Research

My research is related to onomastics, i.e. name studies. Above all, I am interested in anthroponomics, or research on personal names. I have studied e.g. the Christian name giving of the German S-t Gertrud parish in Stockholm and the Swedish-speaking municipality of Dragsfjärd in the Turku archipelago. My current research interest lies in the baptism in the bilingual (Swedish-Finnish) city of Kokkola. I am interested in naming both as a linguistic system and as a system that enables meanings.

Teaching

I teach Swedish normative grammar, modern Swedish literature, Swedish literary production, and give proseminars and supervise bachelor's theses. I also take book exams on literature analysis and stylistics, as well as Swedish translation. I have also taught my speciality, onomastics.
