I am a comparatist who is currently occupied with futural imaginaries, mainly post-apocalyptic literature and transhumanist utopias, with focus on the questions of extinction, technology and the functions of cultural memory. My doctoral dissertation (2024) focused on issues related to time and temporality in post-apocalyptic literature, with particular emphasis on how the narrative and existential perspective of the future anterior (“what will have been”) is inflected by the themes of nostalgia, trauma and melancholia in how we relate to fictions of destroyed futures. My other research interests include, broadly speaking, waste studies, human-animal studies, posthumanism and North American romanticism (particularly R. W. Emerson).
