Geography
Olen maantieteen professori. Väitöskirjani käsitteli ympäristödynamiikkaa Perun Amazoniassa. Olen myös tutkinut maisematason metsärakennetta Suomessa sekä Vienen Karjalassa ja Komissa Venäjällä, Tutkin myös rannikkomaantieteellisiä aiheita Suomessa j Sansibarilla. Olen opettanut hyvin monen tyyppisiä aiheita Turun yliopistssa maantieteen ja geologian sekä biologian laitoksilla, jossain määrin myös perulaisissa yliopistoissa. Olen toiminut hallintotehtävissä matemaattis-luonnontietelelisen tiedekunnan varadekaanina ja maantieteen sekä myöhemmin maantieteen ja geologian laitoksen johtajana. Toimin Amazon-tutkiusr
