Jagannath Kafle is a Doctoral Researcher in Economic Geography at the Department of Marketing and International Business at Turku School of Economics, University of Turku. Since commencing his doctoral studies in 2022, he has been focusing on research in the area of nexus between Official Development Assistance, Policy Intervention, and Sustainable Agriculture Development. To explore the in-depth knowledge in his research area, he has chosen a specific time and space taking the case from the Udayapur district of Nepal employing micro-level data from the bottom-up perspectives. Throughout his studies, he has actively engaged in several academic seminars and has participated in international conferences held in Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Nepal, presenting research papers. He has contributed to academic discourse by publishing conference papers and blog articles on relevant topics which can be found below in the publication section.
Jagannath has diverse work experiences altogether more than 25 years in private and government organizations, self-entrepreneurship, and academia in Nepal and Finland. Achieving his two master’s degrees in Economics and International Business Management, he served 10 years in Nepal Telecom, 5 years lecturer in economics, and 10 years entrepreneur of an ethnic foods trading company based in Finland. This direct involvement in the food trade business from 2012 to 2021 enriched his understanding of the complexities of growing food scarcity, food supply chains, and sustainable practices in food production. He is deeply motivated to contribute to sustainable agricultural practices, development cooperation, and trade relationships between Nepal and Finland through both academic research and practical applications.
His active involvement in writing newspaper and blog articles has enabled him to maintain strong connections with both Finland and Nepal. He has been working as a team member in a prominent global network of researchers and academic communities by affiliation with Asta Ja Research and Development Centre. This institution is committed to researching the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices.
