Biography
Melanie Hassett defended her doctoral thesis on “Key persons’ organizational commitment in cross-border acquisitions” in 2009, which received the Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award 2011 – Highly Commended. Melanie’s research interest lies in cross-border M&As, more specifically post-M&A integration with the focus on cultural and HR integration. She is also interested in research methodology, mixed methods and longitudinal research methods in particular, and she co-authored a book on longitudinal research methods “Handbook of Longitudinal Research Methods in Organisational and Business Studies” together with Eriikka Paavilainen-Mäntymäki. She has been working in acquisition related research projects since 2004. Currently she works as a post-doc researcher in research project titled ”Value creation in international growth – focus on acquisitions and joint ventures”, which is funded by the Academy of Finland and "Emotions in M&A - managing emotions in global, virtual world" funded by TEKES (the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation). Acquisitions are also part of her core courses; she teaches a master’s level course called KVS4 International mergers and acquisition and she gives lectures about acquisitions also to post-graduates and mba students.

Teaching
Melanie has vast experience in teaching both under-graduates and post-graduates. Currently, due to her commitments as a project coordinator for two externally funded research projects she teaches one master’s level course called KVS4 International mergers and acquisition and she gives lectures about acquisitions also to post-graduates.
