Biography

I have worked as a university teacher in the department of physics and astronomy since 2022, while working on my PhD research on STEM students' study processes and student departure. My educational background is physics, mathematics, and chemistry teacher, and in addition to my current jobs, I have experience from science communication and education working in the LUMA center of the University of Turku in 2019-2022, and teaching experience from secondary schools working as a substitute teacher in the years 2016-2020.

Research

My main research focus is on my PhD project, which concerns the study processes of university STEM students, and especially the processes leading to dropout or other departure. With longitudinal data collection and mostly person-oriented quantitative and combined methods research I aim to find common patterns behind student departure. See our research group website for more information.

Teaching

I teach physics teacher students and minor physics students, and supervise theses.
